Webster

Webster Square is a renovation project that demonstrates the transformation of an existing property through architectural design and construction. The project began with a significantly deteriorated existing condition and underwent an extensive transformation.

Built as an addition in 1975, the concrete and masonry addition to the Grant Hospital in Lincoln Park, Chicago had a “brutalist” aesthetic consisting of precast panels in a faceted arrangement. The goal was to renovate the building into a 96 unit luxury condominium building. To achieve that, the existing building needed to be stripped down to the concrete structure and rebuilt with a rectangular floor plate. It was a very unique and challenging project that ended up being very successful for the developer.
